How would an election spot for an political party look like, if there where no rules? In 2005 the German Green Party dared to find out. More than 40 young creatives from video, design, advertising or social media took part in this experiment.
With seven short spots, creative minds such as Paul Snowden and several advertising agencies created their own, somewhat more bizarre election advertising for the Greens. This can only be seen online under the keyword X for Green. The site now features a collection of films and animations. In one commercial, the monster Godzilla whines about his life as a victim of nuclear testing. In another, a CDU campaign worker despairs over his own party’s promises and ends up with a bloody nose. The films deliberately avoid political content, focusing instead on conveying a fundamental mood.
The spots were selected in a competition organized by Jacob Bilabel (head of Thema1 GmbH).
